Munsley Get Boggier

Thanks to funding from Natural England, Gift to Nature have been removing willow and an oak tree from Munsley Bog in order to make it wetter. Changes in land-use in the surrounding area has meant that the bog which is fed by a spring is no longer as wet as it used to be. The trees also extract water and together this has resulted in scrub taking hold. £9 million upgrade to Sandown Waste Water Treatment Works

More than £9 million of work to upgrade Sandown Wastewater Treatment Works on the Isle of Wight in an effort to better protect the local environment is set to begin in October. It is part of wider £17.5 million improvement programme for the island which will run until 2025 – with further schemes being carried out in Roud, Shalfleet and Calbourne, to improve water quality and reduce storm overflows.   Find out more here. … [Read more...]

Grants for Businesses

Water is a precious resource. Every year the population of the South East grows, but the amount of water available stays the same. Due to hotter summers and less rainfall, increased pressure Is put on our water supplies.
