Thanks to funding from Natural England, Gift to Nature have been removing willow and an oak tree from Munsley Bog in order to make it wetter. Changes in land-use in the surrounding area has meant that the bog which is fed by a spring is no longer as wet as it used to be. The trees also extract water and together this has resulted in scrub taking hold. More than £9 million of work to upgrade Sandown Wastewater Treatment Works on the Isle of Wight in an effort to better protect the local environment is set to begin in October.
