The Island Rivers Catchment Plan is a live document, to be reviewed annually. It is a framework for identifying opportunities to improve the quality of all the Isle of Wight river catchments and coastal and groundwater.
With a vision of improving the quality of the Isle of Wight’s water environment and engaging more local people into understanding, appreciating, protecting, enhancing and enjoying our water-courses, the plan prioritises actions which improve water quality, has six strategic aims – protecting and enhancing water quality, protecting water resources (too much and too little), enhancing habitats and protecting species, tackling physical modifications, developing climate resilience and engaging people.
It had a complete revamp in 2023 and the new document can be viewed here.
