
In 2021 Island Rivers Partnership identified the following projects as part of the River Basin Management Plan process:
| Enhancement/no deterioration measures in 2020-2025 Water Industry National Environment Programme |
| Reintroduction of natural processes to Eastern Yar, Alverstone Marshes SSSI and other wetlands within catchment. |
| Adoption of catchment sensitive farming practices throughout the Isle of Wight catchment |
| Saltmarsh restoration projects and investigations. |
| Work with local coastal partnerships and the MMO to improve integration between catchment and coastal management |
| Restoration of Freshwater Marshes SSSI |
| Wroxall Stream – improvements to water quality and removal of barriers |
| Invasive species management – predominantly Himalayan balsam, Japanese knotweed and Crassula helmsii |
| Protection of Gunville Stream from development pressures |
| Removal of fish impoundments throughout Newport Rivers |
| Reintroduce natural processes and fish passage on E Yar at Alverstone Mill. |
In addition, raising awareness and creating and improving access remain priorities.
