30th November – 8th December
Join in with the Great Solent Birdwatch this winter by spending one hour on the coast recording the birds that you see. Come along to one of the Rangers events during the week or head out to your favourite spot around the Solent to do your survey.
This is a new citizen science project which aims to raise awareness about the amazing range of overwintering birds that visit the Solent each year and hopes to inspire everyone to become more involved with birdwatching.
If you might need help with your bird identification, just want some company during your survey or you want to see the birds up close through a telescope then come along to one of these events:
Saturday 30th November time 13:00-15:00 – Ryde, Isle of Wight – meet by the Big Kahuna
Sunday 1st December 12:30-14:30 – Bembridge Harbour, Isle of Wight – meet by start of the causeway (St Helens Duver side)
Thursday 5th December time 10:00-12:00 – Yarmouth, Isle of Wight – meeting point tbc
In the meantime why not brush up on your local coastal bird knowledge by taking a look at our About the Birds pages and info on the RSPB.
